Foot injury #1
We all have a lot of fun wrestling with our kiddos at the Funkhouser house.
Sometimes we laugh so hard watching everyone's face expressions and such.
Jeremiah is by far the funniest of them all right now.
He was just jumping onto a bean bag  from the floor.
He was crying for awhile then eventually stopped but it took a long time to stop.
Which isn't usually the case for him.
So when he got up off the floor he couldn't walk
So, we decided to wait it out and see what his foot looks like the next day.
So he woke up and his foot was swollen.
I measured it
not sure why
but it was a good 1 1/2 inch to 2 inches swollen compared to the other foot and he couldn't walk
but he wasn't crying
So I took him in and they did ex rays and of course...
He broke his Metatarsal bone.

I never knew of such a thing.  So he just had to keep it up and put ice on it for a few days.
Well, that is a little hard to do with a 3 year old, so I carried him around a lot.
He seems to be doing just fine, just limps and sometimes runs with his foot up.

Happy Belated Easter
Ours started off kind of funny...if you ask me
I made funky buns for church and asked Dave to load them in the car
As he started too, he noticed I had a completely flat tire on my car.
Of course it was a  day we needed both cars for church with all the rolls in one and the kiddos in the other.

So we called and woke up my parents and borrowed one of their cars.
So I am loading all the rolls in their car and hear some serious distraction going on in the garage.
I am running around to much and getting neurotic, thinking we are going to be later(in my book) than I want to be.
We all leave at 8 and I was leaving at 7:15 with Olivia
So as I am running around I finally look around in the garage and notice a robin stuck in there
he kept trying to get out and hitting the window
So Dave gets some gloves on and catches the darn thing and the kids had a blast watching him catch this thing and then looking at it in his hands.  They never got to see one that close
As he lets it go, it took a nose dive but then finally took off and found his family...minus a lot of feathers
the kids couldn't stop laughing
either could I
typical of our days here
you just have to laugh
We are so thankful for our church and it's been wonderful to be able to sell our rolls there and advocate about the orphan
God just keeps providing...
I worked on hanging up rummage in our garage and the kiddos all played outside
we took a walk
dyed our Easter eggs
it was 55 degrees here
so beautiful
the snow is gone and the winter clothes are put away
Dave put a screen door on
changed a flat tire
Easter dinner of choice by the kiddos was fun frozen food which we rarely ever have
they picked mozzarella sticks, popcorn chicken nuggets and bagel pizza bits and we made some Easter cut out cookies to go with
This guy chose to color on all his eggs
this is what the kiddos left for the Easter Bunny
Hope you all had a wonderful Easter!
Miah came out of Church yesterday  and says
"He is Risen  indeed!"
Lots of Love from the Funkhousers!

 Who's your King?
 beans and rice
This rubbermaid is full of beans and rice
The kiddos love to play with it
Spoon it, play with their figuurines in there, put it in bowls, cover their feet and hands
sometimes their whole body, if I'm not looking is in there
We play with it outside in the summer time too.
Last year the beans got all over and before you knew it all these little bean sprouts were popping up all over the yard
It wasn't so nice in the sandbox though.
fun and messy
but they all have to help clean it up!
The kiddos have off of school today and Monday.
We are making Easter cut out cookies and praying for that snow to melt.
Come on Spring!

Check the Label
So Dave is sitting in church on Sunday and feeling rather out of sorts. When he got ready for church, he went in his drawer and pulled on a new pair of underwear noting that they were brand new but they seem to fit weird when he put them on. He thought I had tried something new as I often do and that I probably had a coupon or got a great deal on some new style of underwear for him so he didn’t complain and put them on. Out the door we went but I could tell they were really bugging Dave.
The undies were not only tight on his thighs they also hung low on his waist. He started to think, “geez, how much weight have I gained?!” knowing that he needed to lose some it was rather depressing to realize that even his underwear were tighter and didn’t fit right.
To church and back we went. Once home we started working on lunch and he changed into some old clothes to work in the garage. He  paused in the kitchen long enough to mention something to me about the underwear. He looked at me puzzled and I said “Oops, I wonder if I got you the new hip hugger style men’s underwear” I went on to explain that a friend of mine had grabbed the wrong package off the shelf and hadn’t realized they even made that style to go with the new low riding jeans. He felt better knowing it wasn’t his expanding waist that was causing the discomfort but I wanted to check the label to make sure.

I went to check the label of the undies (as he had them on) and giggled as I had to reach farther down the back of my jeans saying “Wow, you aren’t kidding, these are tiny” He felt the tag get pulled then I busted out laughing. I had trouble breathing I was laughing so hard but eventually I was able to tell him that he had been wearing our 7 year old son Odin’s underwear for the past 4 hours. Our son had made the jump and grown out of the superhero undies to young men’s similar in style to Dave's.
I have not laughed that yard in months.
I couldn't stop crying and the kids were laughing
what a joyous moment (even for Dave!)
I love my family!

Thank you Peggy!
They loved everything they got and were so excited to get started on creating things.
Everything was perfect
You went above and beyond
We split up the stuff so they could do little at a time
Thanks for thinking of the kiddos!

Sinuses
I have had this darn sinus cold for over a month now and it's getting a little old
I seem to have forgotten to get Kleenex and just simply kept using toilet paper.
It's crazy how much toilet paper you go through just blowing your nose
On another note I have had this tooth ache for the past 2 weeks and finally went in the other day, because it hurt so bad and it just wasn't going away
The Dentist did some ex-rays and low and behold he thinks it's just  my sinuses causing all this trouble.
Everything else looked good
Who would've thought that
I never even knew they were that close and could cause such a problem.
I got a z-pack and started that right away, so I hope to be feeling better soon.
I was going in thinking I would have to pay for a filling and came out paying a lot less.
Have a great Friday!

These 2 decided to go sledding on our mini hill by our driveway

 Be Still
Sitting in the basement waiting for the tornado warning to expire
my thoughts and mind started to go into overdrive.
First, I am not a sitter so to sit there for 30 minutes with 4 kids and do nothing was good for me.
Being still with my awesome Savior is what I needed
God was just working on my heart
I was getting so emotional, thankful, blessed, happy and content
besides my leg falling asleep holding Jeremiah indian style on the concrete floor for 30 minutes!
The kids passed out fast asleep except for Olivia
She had long slow blinks as she stared at me.
She was wondering about a lot of things.
Wondering if Nanny and Papa were downstairs with us.
(my kids think my parents live at our house because they're here all the time) and if my dad was working (he's a truck driver)
Making sure everyone is safe
Daddy was on the phone and in and out the whole time
Our bunny was scurrying all over in his cage
It was me and the kiddos and my sweet Savior
We are so blessed as a family
As I looked at the kiddos all sleeping I couldn't help but think about our lives and how precious it is each day
they were created for a purpose
Love them more
Teach them more
God made us for love,
to grow,
to build one another up,
to do wonderful things in HIS glory
God has a plan for their lives
The kids were just fine laying on a cold damp concrete floor because they knew they were going to be ok and Jesus was with us
They all asked a ton of questions that night before bed about tornado's, earthquakes and sickness
Why do we have it if there is God
Does the devil do this stuff
Can you die if you got thrown out of the tornado
Their little minds were just thinking away
God helps me to realize that I am weak and that I desperately need Him moment by moment. Strength, wisdom, insight, love, patience and knowledge all come from Him.
Life isn’t soft and easy!
If it was, we wouldn’t need God, would we? Through the circumstances He brings into our lives, we are forced to trust Him.
I am so thankful and feel so blessed each day I have with them and for each teachable moment
We are so blessed!

months on the waitlist

Thankful that God kept us safe during the 2 tornado warnings last night.
Woke the kiddos at 9:15 as the sirens went off,
they each grabbed a blanket and ran to the basement
I on the other had accidentally tried putting my contacts in with hydrogen peroxide.  OUCH!
I cannot see without my glasses and I was trying to hurry and
my eyes were burning
It was amazing how all the kiddos fell asleep once they got situated
they laid on flattened cardboard boxes
with  blankets
all cuddled on top of each other.
It was so sweet to sit and hold them and watch them as I prayed and realized just how much they trust you for their security.
Everything will be ok
love how sweet and oblivious they are to things
half hour later we went upstairs after the storms had passed us
Odin wondered why he just couldn't sleep there on the floor
He thought we were there for the night
Daddy went into work to help out if he was needed
as we drifted off back to sleep
and thanked our awesome God for keeping us safe
Praying for the people and for the aftermath that was affected by the tornado's here and all over.

Our banker
getting bored with being a banker
Asleep
Being a banker during the game of LIFE is a little too much for him

long poopy post
last night the kids and I went and cooked for the homeless.
they love making tacos because they love chopping all the toppings, so we decided to bring tacos for everyone and make a cake
When someone has to go to the bathroom we all have to go
You use the one bathroom that everyone uses that lives there
It's down the hall in between all of their bedrooms and such.
So my kids think it's fun to run in their rooms and ya know just run around like  a kid and be loud talking to everyone
Jonah says, I have to go poop really bad mommy, I am having trouble walking
which he was
he's a funny and gross kid
Livey says, I'm next then
so we all huddle into this little space
of course it's tight so Olivia sits in the shower and some sit on the floor
Yuck.
bathroom floors totally gross me out
wherever I am
even if there clean
Jonah poops and then looks in his underwear while he's pooping and says, mom, I have some poop in my underwear.
what am I going to do?
well, your just going to have to take them off or wear them
I am not wearing them
I will take them off but  where will I put them?
Well not on the counter or anything, and I have no plastic bags
Jonah says, I will put them in my pocket then.
ok
So he starts to wipe  and gets poop all over the toilet seat
this kid uses wads of toilet paper and flushable wipes.
I help him clean the seat up and himself.
he just doesn't get the whole flushing a couple times thing
he just always plugs the toilet up because he has so much toilet paper in there.
4 flushes to clean up the mess
I had no wipes with me
now he has poopy all over his butt that I cannot get off because the toilet paper is gone and there is no more.
All the other kids have to go yet of course
So I tell him I will clean you better when we get home, there is nothing I can do and we need to make dinner, NOW
So he takes his shoes off and pants off to get his undies off
and walks all over the bathroom floor while Olivia goes potty
not thinking about it but she decided to wear a leotard there with leggings
she takes off her whole leotard and puts it on the floor so she can go potty naked
I am totally grossing now about germs
I was talking about germs and bacteria and they just think they have to see it all to believe me.
why is it that kids just  have to inspect their pee or poop.
Olivia puts both hands on the potty and watches her pee go down
really
yuck!
Jonah was just looking at the poop in his underwear.
why is everything so interesting to them like that
disgusting
I said, poop is poop
so he puts his undies in his backpocket and we all finish up
we srubbed our hands because I was so grossed out
You have to air dry your hands because their is no towels
Jonah is having fun wearing no undies
he is totally gyrating in the hall and dancing
All I could think about was the thin layer of dry poopy all over his buttcheeks
I was totally grossed out
Then we get back into the kitchen and the dining room and everyone is getting ready to eat and there just hanging out there
Jonah decides to tell everyone what just happened and how he has no undies on and how they should not worry because they are in his backpocket.
One couple laughed and and some other guys joked around with him but I was totally disgusted and all I could think about was poop and germs now
Needless to say everything came through fine and everyone was happy
Jonah couldn't stop dancing because he loved the feeling of no undies.

Lots of rain and storms here in WI  all weekend.
I love the spring rain, but it was cloudy and dreary.
Not much sun at all.
After church yesterday, Jeremiah decided to jump in the puddles while I talk to pastor Glen.
He was soaked from his waist down.
I could ring out his socks.
I made a birthday cake for my dad and I.
They came over for dinner last night.
I have to say it was a new cake reciepe and it was so dry, crumbly and hard
My dad does not like when I try new things.
We actually warmed it up first and that made it taste better.
The kids had theirs with a bunch of ice cream and it was fine.
My dad didn't mind it.
I worked on a few projects this weekend and we just hung out at home.
Had a movie night with a sleepover in the living room.
We drug out our mattress and laid it on the floor
Which is so uncomfortable for us.
6 people on a queen size mattress
Our backs our usually sore the next day
  It was nice and relaxing.
Lots of Lego building going on here all day and every day.

The most important part of our task will be to tell everyone who will listen that Jesus is the only answer to the problems that are disturbing the hearts of men and nations.
We shall have the right to speak because we can tell from our experience that his light is more powerful than the deepest darkness....  How wonderful that the reality of his prescence is greater than the reality of the hell about us.
Betsie ten Boom
Thank you all for the birthday wishes!
