girls on the run

Running cancer to the ground!

8 Weeks ago Olivia signed up for a program called “Girls on the Run!” She goes to meetings twice a week with other young girls and their adult coaches. At the meetings they talk about their lives and about being a good role model and more. She really enjoys it. Each time they meet they end their class running. Each week they ran a little farther and the goal was to run a 5K.

Olivia needed a running buddy to do the 5K so she surprised Dave by signing him up. Dave used to run many years ago but he had to stop after his knees were injured. He played a lot of soccer when he was younger and it is finally catching up to him. The most running he has done lately has been only a mile so he was a little worried when she told him about the 5K.

He was a trooper and started training. Almost everyday he worked out and kept increasing his time on the treadmill. Dave said he needed to do it anyways and doing something for Olivia as her running buddy made it fun.
A couple weeks ago they had their first test 5K run. They ran and walked but they did it. They finished the full 3.1 miles!

We were so proud of them.
The official 5k was last weekend in Appleton. It was a big event. Girls on the run groups came from all over the area and they all ran the 5k. Dave and Olivia did it too. They ran most of it but walked too. Dave said he felt great and his knees held up just fine. They even beat their practice run time by 5 minutes!
The run was made even more special as it was on Dave’s 3rd Cancer Birthday. 3 years ago he was diagnosed with Stage 4 head and neck cancer. 3 years later after 3 surgeries radiation and more he ran a 5k. Awesome.

Praise God.

These were her prayer markers for every mile...love her heart.

We also are excited about a new fundraiser(to finish paying off Abraham's adoption) starting next week just in time for the season.

 Have a great Wednesday!

planets, reptiles, and Cubbies
(week 9)

Odin learned about the start of World War I and  started reading War Horse. He has had a bummer of a cold all week.  He's the only one with his tonsils and he's also the only one who has bad sinus colds that stay forever.

Jonah learned about monks, Uranus and Pluto. This kid cracks me up.  He was literally running up and down the hallway to make his goal on his Garmin the other day.  Dave and I were cracking up.
I'm making a video next time!

Olivia learned about frogs, turtles and big Sampson. She's been baking, crafting, sanding and sifting and creating all kinds of things.  She always has notebooks going, journals, washi tape, sharpies and colored pencils.  She goes through Sharpies like water.  This lady is rarely bored.  And if she is, you'll know it because she pesters her brothers something fierce!

Jeremiah just started reading Alexander Hamilton. This is how he rolls. Life is good.

Gabe did something big this week.  He went to Cubbies at our AWANA group and loved it.  Meghan thank Jeremiah for helping him/playing with him.  Huge deal for this little star.  He never wants to go to any class by himself so this was a big improvement.  He loved it.  We'll go again and if he does fine, we're signing him up.

I Love how all of you guys love on us.  Thank you for the blessings this week.  We love love love them and feel so blessed.

Happy monday!!!

Odin's next task was to list and describe who he believes are or were 13 Great Americans. Here is his list which is not ranked on who he thinks is important. It is just his list. Fun to see. He just read about a lot of these people

2. Benjamin Franklin

3. Thomas A. Edison

4. George Washington

5. William Clark and Meriwether Lewis

6. Alvin York

7. Helen Keller

8. Henry Ford

9. Orville and Wilbur Wright

10. Davy Crockett

11. Dwight Moody

12.  US Navy Seal Chris Kyle

13. General George Custer

This task he finished in just a few days.  He was so excited and pumped to do this. He will get his November task next.

Dave and Olivia will be running in their run tomm. in Appleton.  Praying for good weather.  Say a prayer for them.  They want to be able to walk after!
We will all be there to cheer them on.  Signage and all!
We are so excited for them.

Took the camper to storage for the year.  We had so many fun camping trips this year.  We love our state parks and we are so thankful that we are able to go camping.

We are off to do more random acts of kindness this weekend.  We are in a mood and we just keep going!  I love it.  The kids get pumped thinking about it.

Grandma Mimi comes in a few days and we are super stoked!

Have a Fab Friday and a great weekend!

Go love on someone!

Happy 4th  Birthday Gabriel

What a joy this guy is.  If we would've never listened to the email from Michelle Duggar (the Dr. is their best friend) and prayed about getting a reverse vasectomy(Dave rocks)...

Gabe would never be here.
 God is so good!

So glad we drove 13 hours(we had such a blast on the trip down) to Arkansas to get a reverse vasectomy.  I talk like I went under the knife!  Dave was such a trooper.  Totally rocked the surgery and the healing.   So glad we listened to God when he put this on our hearts even though it sounded insanely crazy and weird. Gabe is truly a miracle and we are so blessed to have him  in our lives

Since this guy doesn't eat cake he asked for soupy ice cream with candles in.  He's a funny guy who loved everything about his birthday.

Thank you for all the gifts, cards and love.  We are so blessed to have you all in our lives and so thankful for everything.
