Week 4 coming to an end

Dave is in week 4 of his radiation treatments
Good news is that the doctors say he is doing much better than they expected at this stage of his treatments

Praise the Lord
your prayers are working!!!

As of this week Dave has only lost one pound which is great and we hope he can continue to maintain his weight to avoid having a feeding tube put in
The doctors gave him some medicine to help with his nausea so his vomiting has stopped too
I wish I had more good news but all of the bad things the doctors told us would happen are happening now

Even though he is in a lot of pain Dave doesn't complain at all
he has God Given courage
which is where he finds his strength
this is one of our favorite verses through this journey

Philippians 4:13 promises, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”

He has lost all sense of taste and his tongue is swelling up
His neck is really red and he looks like he has a really bad sunburn
He also has a nasty blister rash around the bottom of his neck which the doctors said is from his body reacting to the radiation
It looks painful
Each day he goes through a process 3 times of putting on different types of creams and lotions to help ease the pain
His throat is really starting to burn(no mouth sores yet)so they have increased his pain medications too
starting Friday he will be on a patch for his pain medicine.
which he can change every 72 hours
it keeps the medicine steady instead of having the ups and downs of pain pills
Lots of mucus so he coughs a lot which hurts his raw throat
He is really tired and doesn't have much energy at all
It is tough to watch him go through this
but we serve an awesome and amazing God that heals

I miss my old Dave
I miss watching him wrestle with the kids every night
I miss watching him sled down the hill with the kids on his lap
I miss his smile and bright happy eyes
He still smiles but I can see pain in there too
We know this is all part of the journey and we were told to expect all of this but it is still tough
to see someone you love suffer.

We are truly grateful for all the blessings we have received
So many people have reached out to us with generous hearts
with cards, meals, gas cards,
 words of kindness and encouragement
We are so blessed to have such kind people in our lives

for all my prayer warriors out there
please pray for continued minimal side effects please
