Road Trip
God is awesome and opening doors for us.
It has been a roller coaster of a week with emotions and thoughts over here at the Funk's house
we have our good days and bad days
We serve and awesome God and he is faithful and able to do anything
Thanks to a lot of work by one of Dave’s sisters in
California (Thank you ML) We were able to get an appointment with the cancer
specialists at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN on Monday morning. We will be
leaving early Sunday and driving there to spend a few days having their team
develop a formal 2nd opinion. Our doctors here were great and are
getting all of Dave’s records ready for us to take with to Mayo.
If the doctors there at Mayo are OK with the diagnosis and
treatment plan then he can probably have his treatments here in Wisconsin
including Dave’s surgery next Wednesday.
We have learned a lot about what to expect during his
treatment and Dave’s other sister in California has sent us so much information
on foods that will help Dave’s body get ready to fight
cancer but also recover from the treatments much faster.
We’re taking Dave to a
whole new lifestyle here and it has been fun yet tricky
A lot of the things we need we just don't have around here
thank you Sister Sarah for making it possible
His dinner last night was two glasses of a blended
juice and raw veggie smoothie.
Dave has been a trooper
I kind of just give him what he is supposed to eat and he eats it
Thank you so much to all of you who have sent cards and
e-mails. They are so nice and the words
of encouragement and prayer are great for us. So many people have offered to
help and we know we will need it in the months ahead so we will take you up on
your offers. We are preparing for this journey and cannot thank everyone enough
who has contacted us with offers to help and support.
Thank you John and Rhonda for the gas card to get to MN
Dave always speaks of the brotherhood in his job. He has
seen it work and has done a lot to help fellow officers many times himself over
the years. It is coming back to him now. Officers from all over are reaching out to him
with words of strength and encouragement and prayer including many he hasn’t
seen or spoken to in years.
He is overwhelmed by the support and honored by it
too.
His e-mail at works is full
everyday with messages from other officers.
It is truly amazing how God is working in this.
Please keep the prayers coming.
They are working and God is so good and faithful
Dave is
sleeping better and doors that were closed are opening!
Prayers needed right now:
that the
doctors there are able to help us even more
that we have a safe trip
Dave keeps worry and fear away and sleeps good
and God will provide for us financially for what is to come
My mom will be watching the 2 younger kiddos and the 3 older ones will come with us
I cannot thank you enough for all of you.
we couldn't do this without you
it is different for us to be on the other side and receive so much support
Hebrews 6:18
New Living Translation
So
God has given both his promise and his oath.
These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie.
Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have
great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us.

Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have
great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us.
We love you all dearly
(sorry for my regular readers I haven't done my usually posting this week)
