Day 24
It was Miah's pick today..so he chose to give some goodies to a friend. We're always sad to see our random act of kindness advent come to an end. We came up with a few new ideas for next year already. Our job throughout the year is to always continue doing a few every month. Being kind and nice can have such an impact on someone's life. Choosing to be compassionate can change the world!
This was our letter this year.
Merry Christmas from the Funkhouser Family
So thankful for God’s many blessings…2015
What a blessed
year we had. God is so faithful. In between our trips to Mayo every 3 months,
homeschooling, and wrangling everyone in this crazy house, Abraham fell into
our lap in late August. As many of you
know, we have tried to adopt for the past 7 years. We’ve suffered through 3
failed attempts, with each one being more difficult to recover from. We lost
time, energy, emotions, lots of money, and at times our faith was rattled but
we never faltered. The mercies of God cannot and will not fail and his
faithfulness is unwavering. He makes
beautiful things out of us. During
those difficult times we grow. Each
new challenge built strength and character we didn’t know we had.
These are the moments that make it all worth it. These are the
moments that we hold on to. Thank you all of you
who for being a part of Abraham's journey. God is completely
amazing!
Dave celebrates 10 years with Kiel P.D. as Chief of Police
this month. Time really flies. He continues to be busy with day to day work,
speaking engagements and sharing his story of faith and how good our God
is. He is loving all the opportunities
God has put in our path and hopes to write a book. Dave also had a very busy
year serving as President of the Wisconsin police chiefs.
I continue to homeschool my little 6 pack and love every busy,
loud and crazy minute of it. They have
hearts for God and love to serve others with the gifts that God has given them.
It takes a lot of patience and grace but each day is a new one.
Odin is 12 years old and maturing so fast. He loves to draw,
read, play football, serve the homeless and create all sorts of things. He is a peace maker, a care taker and a grace
giver.
Jonah is almost 11 and loves to play with his action figures,
Legos, drawing and reading. Jonah is a laugh giver and tender hearted. He
is a showman and loves to make others smile and laugh.
Olivia is almost 10 and loves to bake, create anything,
crafts, and has a passion for science.
She also loves playing school, organization and listening to music. She is quite the busy little lady crafting
and creating all day long. She is a
light spreader, a beauty finder and a joy thrower.
Jeremiah is almost 8 and loves board games, playing with
action figures, Legos and loves football.
He is a people lover, always smiling and full of life. Somehow he became
a Seahawks fan and roots wildly for them every game,
Gabriel is a 3 year old bundle of pure joy. He never stops talking and smiling. He is such a happy guy and full of energy. He
loves the Avengers, the Ninja Turtles, wrestling with Daddy, and loves to play
board games.
Abraham is such a bundle of squishy love and we are so
blessed. He had a rough start but at
almost 4 months now he continues to be an easier baby day by day. Everyone continues to love on him and serve
him whenever they can. He’s beautiful.
To those of you who have donated towards Abraham’s
adoption…THANK YOU!
Praying you all have a wonderful Christmas.
We are gathering with our family and celebrating the
Saviour and making memories.
There are so many things to be thankful for this year.
"For to us a child
is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder,
and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting
Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6
Thank you for blessing us through this journey.
Blessings from our
family to yours.
Have a Merry Christmas!
