Prayers for the Fallen

Last night one firefighter from the neighboring community of St Anna Wisconsin died and several others were hurt in the line of duty after an explosion occurred while the firefighters worked to extinguish a fire at a local business. Fire and Police Departments including ours from Kiel were involved in the call.  The entire area and our own community of Kiel is hurting deeply today. Please keep hold all of these firefighters, their families, friends, and co-workers in your prayers. These are brave men and women who serve all of us everyday working to keep us all safe. Unfortunately often times we don't truly appreciate what a firefighter or police officer does for us until one or more of them fall in the line of duty.
God Bless.

RAFFLE CANCELLED

RAFFLE CANCELLED.
Straight out of the "learn something new" files, we found out that under Wisconsin Law we do not qualify for a raffle license and that if we conduct one without a license, we'd have all sorts of problems and be in big trouble too! Obviously that would put a major damper on our plans.
Therefore we have cancelled our raffle for the Wii Game System. Sorry.
However; we still plan to host some fundraisers including a Brat Fry (Cook out) scheduled for Jan 31st here in Kiel and we are also are looking into selling t-shirts as a fundraiser too.
Keep checking the blog here for updates and thanks to several of you who contacted us with info on the raffle laws in Wisconsin...we appreciate it.

God says he is present. That’s why Jesus is called Immanuel, which means ‘God with us’.

If God is with us, why do bad things happen? Horrible things like a war, a tsunami, hurricane Katrina, a sudden job loss, incurable illness, or a divorce happen every day.
In comfort-loving America we think if God is really with me, then I’ll be shielded from trouble. But this is not what the Bible teaches. The event of the first Christmas shows us that God does not prevent hardships from coming to his chosen people. Bad things do happen to good people.
Look at the first Christmas when Jesus came into the world. There was political unrest – an oppressive Roman regime was taxing the people to death. A teenage couple far from home was jostled among strangers tired and hungry. There was no room in the inn. A young woman was in severe labor pains with no doctor or midwife nearby or even a bed to lie down on. Instead, she gives birth in a stable.
God did not shield Mary and Joseph, the chosen couple, from hardships. The first Christmas was anything but perfect by our standards of comfort and ease. As Christians we’ll have our share of trouble. Jesus promised us this: “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33, NIV).
No matter what is going on around us, God’s name is still Immanuel. Immanuel: God with us–always.
Wishing you and your family a blessed Christmas, as you celebrate the King of Kings, and the Lord of Lords. To Christ be all the glory this Christmas season. What a great Saviour we serve!

Shop With A Cop - Kiel P.D.

We had a wonderful day yesterday at our police department's annual "Shop with a Cop" program.  Every year my husband's police department holds fundraisers to raise money for this and it is always so awesome to be part of. There were many happy children and thankful parents.  The officers work really hard to make everything go well and prepare for the event. Dave is so proud of them and the work his officers do for these kids. On the day of the event, the officers meet the kids at Walmart and each child goes shopping with an officer to get some gifts for them and their family. After shopping they meet the volunteers at our community center and then we wrap the gifts, eat pizza and have a visit from Santa who brings the kids gift cards and some wonderful homemade fleece blankets. Thanks to everyone who helps out doing this and for all the generous donations of your time, your money and your hearts.  Have a wonderful Sunday!

We are accepted!
We have officially begun the paper chase(our agency is American World Adoption Association) and we could not be happier!  God is good!  We are all so excited to take this next journey.  We are so excited to see God move within the hearts of our family and friends.  Thanks for taking the time to check out our blog and share any thoughts you might have.  I am posting some answers to some questions that have been asked frequently.  Have a blessed day!

WHY-International adoption has always been on our minds and an idea we tossed around.  God began to do his work in us.  Why not?  We have room in our hearts and home? God places unique desires and callings in his servants.  We are certainly open to whatever God has called us to, god has layed Africa on our hearts.  We are thankful God calls us to different tasks so we can be an effective force for his kingdom.  Children in all countries are created by God.  There is no border. The other kids are so excited about this.  They just want a lot more.   The love of a family is more important than color.  We will celebrate the diversity of us all.

COST-International adoption is very costly.  We firmly believe that God provides in full for whatever he has called his people to do.  Every penny of this adoption is coming from HIM.  Our God is a faithful awesome God!
