home
We are home
got home yesterday in the evening
we nearly ran out of the hospital
Dave was so happy to leave

He  was able to keep eggs and applesauce down so far
he did  blended soup this morning and all is staying down
his  throat is still burning and painful  but he is just
taking Tylenol for now
slept better last night upstairs in the pull out bed
we also took Gabe out of the crib and he is sleeping on a mattress on the floor
funny all the kids ended up with me in our bedroom
I guess they got use to the hotel room
Dave has a lot of flem coming out still
we will go back in 2 weeks to meet the Radiologist
Hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving
My mom had made us food so we all could eat when we got home
we are so thankful they watched Gabe for us
it is good to be home and get back on our normal routine
ya know me...I am all about routine and organization
we will be hanging low for the next week and a half.
thank you all for your emails, calls prayers and donations
we love you dearly!

We cannot express how grateful we are for all your love and support and generous donations

so thankful for a God that never leaves us

we love you dearly
“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

visiting daddy
we decided to go and visit daddy early so we could get a good parking spot
we scored right by the elevators
We got there by 7ish just in time to see daddy puking
Dr. stopped in today and said he has to keep food down today or the feeding tube goes in
they have tried applesauce and jello
everything is coming up even the water
he still has an iv with antibiotics
and the drain will hopefully come out today
they are giving him injections in his arm for blood clotting
went and visited with some homeless people by Mayo Clinic today and they were so funny
this one little Grandma we were talking to asked Odin if he could just get her some food and Pampers
he says...like my baby brother wears?
she said yes...for adults though
he then proceeds to ask her what size
it was so funny and cute at the same time
so we didn't find any in the proximity
so we had some blessing bags packed already and we went and got them all some hot cocoa
they were very thankful
we went and read some more at Barnes and Noble
I think they are going to kick us out of there soon.  they gotta have cameras on us
I mean all were doing is taking books and sitting in chairs and reading for a couple hours
the kids love it!
then we swam some more
they all have rashes on their faces I think from so much chlorine these past few days
we went back up to see Dave later this afternoon
he was keeping the applesauce  down so far
Praise the Lord!
we were walking around and doing some puzzles
Dave was getting teary and sad
and then it had a ripple effect on all of us
we all just want to get back home together as a family

on a funny note
we were driving around later just before dusk and we saw this homeless man at the stop lights
so the kiddos are like .....mom just crossover the 3 lanes(going the wrong way) and we'll throw a blessing bag out the window at him
all right
it was funny
we threw the bag to the guy and he was so excited
he said...you guys are awesome
thank you so much
you guys Rock
the kiddos thought is was so much fun
breaking the law and going the wrong way on the road

we settled down for the night at the hotel and watched a movie
we are hoping to get out of here tomm. morning

 pray for sleep
and to be able to keep the food down
Thank you so much for all your prayers and love!
Praise the Lord he is moving!
the hurting

While we ate free soup and rolls at the Comfort Suites last night
the lobby was bustling with a ton of people
cold crisp winter wind blowing through the automatic doors
they have a great patient rate
 you get the pool
free breakfasts and free soup, rolls and cookies every night
it's a great deal for a family
we are the only family there

I feel like all eyes are on us
so many hurting
coughing
bandaged
sickness
oxygen tanks
hair loss
wheelchairs
sad and heavy hearts
it just breaks you
you wish you could do more for them
it's hard for the kiddos to not ask questions about what they see or hear
so we save the conversation for the hotel room instead
the littles talk so loud and are so innocent about stuff
I feel like they are going to ask us to leave soon for being to loud in this place
crazy kids running up and down the hallways
I know the patients are all in a good place
but it doesn't take away the hurt or pain they are going through
it's hard to know what to say or to talk about with them
but were trying to be that little bit of sunshine in their dark days
honestly I thank God for those broken places

 Broken places heal stronger

I’ve learned in the valley when you’re face to face with grief and pain and change,

 God doesn’t always make sense.

The darkness in our lives only makes Jesus shine brighter.
Isaiah 41:10 “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.  Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.I will strengthen you and help you.  I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”

I believe we are created for two reasons: to fellowship with God and to bring Him glory.

I want to do both.

Even when neither make sense.

Tuesday
the kiddos slept great last night
up and raring to go at 4:30ish
thank goodness they serve breakfast at 5:30
Olivia was cranking the music on my computer
she loves loves loves Natalie Grant's new album Hurricane
skyped with Gabe
ate and then we swam for awhile
then we headed up to see Daddy
he was  up and wanted  to walk with us
he did great
he couldn't talk yet but he's doing good
he still has the drain in his neck but the bandage was off and the wound look great
it's a good wound about 6-8 inches
scars are cool the kiddos say
David wasn't able to keep liquids or any applesauce down yet
he has to be able to keep things down before he can be released
the Dr. has checked on him a few times daily and he is doing good
thank you Lee and Joey for visiting,
for all the food and snacks for the kiddos and for all your gifts
thank you Barb for bringing some things to do for the kiddos
they loved them and most of all thank you for getting David in so fast
you guys are so thoughtful and caring

we are so blessed

The Dr. just called at 5:45 pm
FINALLY
the surgery went as planned
he said it was exactly what they thought it would be
took out his tonsils and part of the base of his tongue
exactly where the tumor was
then for the neck dissection
the cancer was gone but they removed a sack of lymph nodes
just for good measure
he will heal for 4 weeks
then they set up an appointment for us to see the radiologist next

Thank you all so very much your prayers, love and support

I am tired

Exodus 15:26
I am the Lord who heals you

hospital

we went to visit David at the hospital
for about 10 minutes
I totally forgot he was sharing a room
we had to pay for a single room  out of pocket
so the nurses station didn't say anything about where he was in the room
it was a little shocking for the kiddos when they first walked in
and saw this guy they thought was their dad with all sorts of tubes all over
then we proceeded ahead and saw daddy

he had a window seat they said
David looked great besides being a little pale
the kiddos said his bandage on his neck looked like those seat belt pillows that you can sleep on and there oohh so comfy
total infomercial
Olivia was hoping to draw some things on it
David politely whispered me over to him and asked if we could go
he was having a hard time keeping his eyes open

the kiddos gave him a hug and kiss
and lost it from there
all the kiddos were struggling but
Jeremiah was having a really hard time keeping it together
so we went and did some things
and found some homeless people to bless with some blessing bags and warm hot chocolate
my  kiddos love the homeless
they wondered if they could play UNO with them while they ask for money
love their hearts
hoping for a call from the Dr. tomm.
I have no news on anything yet
keep the prayers coming for a healthy and quick recovery
we love you all
and thank you all very much
I will have to post the pictures of our trip when we get back...sorry about that
