                                                          Memory Foam
the kiddos were sleeping in the camper the other day
one of them wet the bed.
they sleep on memory foam that is laying on top of the
                                      mattress in the camper
Dave washed the memory foam to get the pee out
                                        put it into the dryer.
he checked on it after 2 minutes
                                 and guess what happened
                                       it was shredded
                            just like little Styrofoam peanuts.
                                         kind of funny
but not the fact that we now have to get a new one.
Now we learned a good lesson!
I was thinking I was glad it wasn't me!

Happy Memorial Day!

Peace

- Amanda Bradley

Peace will come when people live

In friendship, side by side,

And cherish understanding

More than hatred, greed and pride.

Peace will come when people see

All people as the same,

And no one has to live in fear,

In ignorance, or shame.

Peace will come when people

Who are needy can reach out

For shelter, food, or love,

And no has to do without.

Peace will come when people

Learn to listen and to care

About the rights and dignity

Of people everywhere.

Peace will come when love and trust

And kindness know rebirth,

And on that day all people

Will rejoice in peace on earth.

Ramblings...
Lots of field trips this week for the kiddos
Walks to the Public Library, Dairy Queen, the zoo
We are getting towards the end of the year all right.
I am super excited to be with my kiddos at home
I love having a schedule but not one where we have to leave so fast in the morning
Looking forward to hanging out and just having fun with them.
We had a concrete campfire last night
We set up the camper in our yard and start a fire and roast hot dogs and marshmallows.
The kids love running around in the yard at night and chasing each other.
They all sleep in the camper and Olivia and I sleep together in the house.
It's so much fun to snuggle with your kiddos in your bed!

Nanee and Papa are taking us to Chocolatefest today in Burlington
It's about a 2 1/2 hour drive
It was something they wanted to do for the kiddos so
we are super excited.
We never go to festivals because they cost so much money.
This is a nice gift from them and we are so thankful!

We sent out our last agency application and profile book yesterday.
Now we just wait to be matched with a birthmother.
Please pray for us  as we follow God's plan of one or 2 children.
Lots of Love from the Funkhousers!

Random shots from Grandma Mimi

Daddy is off today to do some projects around the house
Olivia, Jeremiah and I will be going rummaging today
I love rummaging!
We will be having a campfire tonight
roasting marshmallows
and sleeping out in our camper that is parked in the driveway
We call it concrete camping
and the kiddos love it.
It's nice and cheap.
Have a great Friday!

Trip to the zoo with Grandma Mimi
Grandma Mimi thought they would enjoy a pony ride

(sorry the pictures are not the best)
We had a great time at the zoo with Grandma Mimi. We didn't even take any pictures of the animals, just the kiddos.  Thank you for getting us a zoo pass again this year.  It is a great gift and we love it!

Worms
Whenever it rains around here,
Jonah, Olivia and Jeremiah love to go and gather all the worms on the concrete.
Jeremiah loves how they feel.
Odin decided to put some on my car seat before I tool them all to school.
I just happen to look at the seat before I sat down
He also wrapped one around the steering wheel.
I was kind of grossed out and he couldn't stop laughing.
Oh the fun of squiggly wiggly worms!

Nail polish
Olivia loves to paint my nails.
I never paint my nails
I do not like nail polish and I bite my nails all the time.
I can't stop looking at the polish every time I use my hands
I was just never a girly girl at all.
I loved mud on my hands and running around getting dirty.
Olivia is teaching me how to be more girly I guess.

Domestic Adoption Progress
Here is what we have done so far:
*We withdrew from Gladney Adoption Agency
*We signed on with Christian Adoption Consultants
*We already had our Home Study redone for a domestic adoption just needed to make some copies
*Made our profile books(lots of fun, but we barely have any pictures of all of us together as a family)
*Received a packet of information from CAC and selected the agencies and lawyers that will show our profile book to prospective birth moms
*We have put together all necessary documents for each agency and lawyer and sent them out this week.
We are so excited to  begin this new journey!
We are so grateful for all your prayers.

A new journey begins...
As a family we have had to make a hard decision solely based on months of prayer and God's lead and timing in all of this.  God has been taking us on a roller coaster ride the last 5 months, going through all sorts of loops and twists and changing and opening our heart along the way.  God has put Domestic adoption of 1 or 2 children on our hearts and we as a family have chosen to follow.
Giving us consistent signs, over and over again we have opened our hearts to his plan not our plan.  I just couldn't believe how persistent God is and how he never left us wondering.  Even though its been hard to finally say yes to him we as a family feel very at peace and we couldn't be more excited about this new journey he has us on.
We have so many friends that have adopted domestically but it never really crossed my mind.  I always had a love for Africa and always will.  Dave is the one who wanted to pursue Domestic from the start, and I guess I should of listened.  After Ethiopia stopped their process and then started it again but with cuts in their government we just started to ask God where we should go or what we should do. God  simply threw situations, conversations and signs our way.  The more we stayed focused and faithful to Ethiopia the more signs and confirmation for us to switch to Domestic he gave us.  I was starting think...
Wow!
Can he really do this stuff?
God is crazy and I am going insane over here!
Trusting in God and his plan, it got to be pretty crazy sometimes before we made the decision.
It's like I was constantly teetering on this edge and we finally had to make the decision.  We are so thankful that God had given us this time to raise the money for this adoption and to open our hearts to Domestic adoption. We are saddened that we will not be adopting from Ethiopia but we know we will be going there for mission trips in the future with our children.  We as a family are very excited about this and we couldn't be happier. God has the perfect child(ren) for us in his timing. We are starting over and following God's lead. Thank you for all your prayers and support.

We made it!
3 days of getting up at 3 am and going to bed by 9
I am tired...
I did not have time to download the pictures yet.
We did awesome!
I had about 10 boxes of odds and ends left and we donated them to Easter Seals.
Then I also went through all the clothes we had left and will be taking them to 2 resale shops and trying to sell them that way as well.
60 dozen funky buns
40 bags of puppy chow
and 75 brats
We never stopped moving
There is just always something to be done
My knees hurt when I  bent down because I barely sat all day.
Thank you Jody for helping during the day, and thank you to my parents and Mimi helping during the day as well.
Thank you for all the prayers and wonderful donations.
We are so blessed and God is good!
Thank you for all the wonderful blessings!
Love the Funkhousers!

We are alive but exhausted!
Up at 3:00 to bake funky buns
non stop on our feet all day
I crashed at 8:00 last night.
after I ate 2 bags of puppy chow.
Brats, puppy chow and the funky buns
are going like crazy.
Last day is today!
Everything is half price
So come on out and support us and help empty our garage.
Please pray for us to get rid of the rest!
Thank you for all of your prayers as well.
God is blessing us greatly!
We are so excited!
Love
Jill

Grandma Mimi has arrived!
I drove all 4 kiddos to the airport and we had a blast.
I got up and started baking Funky Buns at 3:30 today and will continue throughout the day.
Dave will get the tent(my parents rent the tent for us) and we will put that up with a ton of tables under.
We also do one canopy with all the food under as well.
Most of the clothes are all hanging and sized and organized.
I am kind of OCD about that.
I just don't like looking at piles of clothes.
We will have brats, funky buns and puppy chow and soda.
Come on over and say Hi!
The rummage will start tomm. at 8:00
We have lots of wonderful things.
Please pray for good weather and lots of sales.
Stay tuned for what God has put on our hearts the last 5 months.
God is truly amazing and his paths are so clear!
Lots of thank yous and love from the Funkhousers!

What do you do with a popped ball?
We have been working on updating a lot of our paperwork and our home study for our adoption mixed in with everything else and it's been busy.
Dave and I were just talking about how we have about 6 huge things going on right now and how it's just never meant to be easy for us.
really....
we just have to laugh it off and lean on God more for everything.
God has just been putting some hard and difficult things on our heart
with a lot of decisions to be made.
Sometimes HIS plan is SO different than ours.
why do things have to be so hard sometimes...
on another note
We go to pick up Grandma Mimi today from the airport
hoping she brings some California sun with her as well for our rummage sale this weekend
All 4 kids are coming with to the airport
they are so excited!
We only get to see her twice a year.
pricing some more things today and going through our closets and simplifying our clothes and anything else we can get rid of.
I am getting excited
I truly love having rummage sales
and pray for God to keep providing for us!

the kids were constantly in and out playing outside
it was beautiful with the sun shining yesterday
we are getting ready for Grandma Mimi to come and visit
birds are singing already in the morning
and it's early...
Hope you all enjoyed your Mother's Day and
realize how special you really are!
Lots of Love

He was not happy with me taking this picture..

Seriously...
Happy Friday!
Baking..Baking...Baking...
Funky Buns for a Fundraiser weekend at Divine Savior Catholic Church.  They asked me to be part of their Mother's Day plant sale(Huge Fundraiser for their church and school) all weekend by providing funky buns and coffee.  So I will be there Saturday and Sunday most of the day starting at 8:00.
Plants and vendors galore.
I will be selling our necklaces, coffee and funky buns.
Great opportunity to advocate for the orphan and make some more money for the adoption.
I am so excited!

Decisions
We updated our Home Study this last weekend and are working on making some hard decisions that the Lord has put on our heart. I feel like he just keeps pouring it in my cup and my cup has been full and it just keeps spilling over.  It seems to all come at once. This is when my faith needs to kick  it into high gear, but sometimes it's so hard My emotions get the best of me and I cannot even concentrate on anything.  Dave's mom is coming next week for a visit as well.  We always have a great time.  We are so excited for Grandma Mimi to be part of our rummage sale!
We are also getting ready for our 3rd charitable Rummage Sale for next weekend.  If you had anything you wanted to donate for this please bring it on by this weekend.  The rummage will be May 12, 13, 14 from 8-6 and 8-5 on 14th.  We will have brats, funky buns and puppy chow.  100% of the proceeds will go towards our adoption.
Thanks for everything and please keep us in your prayers!

Tricks
I went to check(seeing how messy it was after they left) in the bathroom the other morning after the kiddos went to school and happen to come across a gritty feeling counter in there.
What is that?
I have to say the bathroom is usually clean and brushes and toothpaste are put away when they are done but something was going on in there that I wasn't too sure off.
I asked them what was on the counter in the bathroom when they got home from school
they said what do you mean?
Come on and look
ooh, that's salt!
ok, why?
Odin gladly says, I put salt on their toothbrushes underneath their toothpaste for a joke.
Nice!
The jokes come from Dave's side...not mine!

Odin
Odin likes to hide his books all over the house.
Funny...I do the same thing and have many different books I am reading at one time.
I was very thankful that we taught our kids they have to sit and pee instead of stand
especially when I saw this...
I am always telling them to not put things on the bathroom floor!
