Too funny...
I was going into a parking structure yesterday looking for a spot to park.  There were no spots left on the first floor so I decided to go to the second floor.  I totally forgot Dave put on our van rack this weekend and boom.  Yup...I hit the clearance sign.
So by the time I actually parked the police were there already.  They were so fast.  My kids thought this was so funny.  Odin says,"Daddy is going to be angry but I can't stop laughing."  Either could I.  For some reason I thought this was totally funny.  This is something that would happen to me.  We always joke that I have never been in any accidents but have probably caused so many. So we left with some paperwork and no damage to the van, just the cable.

Happy Fathers Day
We had a great day together with our friends and family.

Daddy-you make us feel protected,
 you are our superhero,
always a true friend,

you have a place of honor deep within our hearts,
you always pass on words of wisdom,

always teaching us by example and setting fair rules,

dependable,
trustworthy,
dedicated,
handsome,

you chase away our fears,
soothing us when we are hurt,
you have such manly charm,

strong yet gentle,
ready to wrestle at any time,

always trying to help us build our character.
Thank you for making a living, giving us food, clothes, shelter, and other necessary and not so necessary things, unselfishly  investing time and money in us.

Thank you for always saving energy for us, for leading us on adventures, for making us laugh,

for being our playmates and friends, and your
unconditional love.
We love you so much and are so blessed to call you our daddy!

The devil

It’s funny how people talk openly about Jesus but giggle like little kids when you mention the devil and laugh about it. We as Christians are quick to believe and will defend the story of Christ, believing completely that he is the Son of God, who walked the earth performing wonderful miracles, who died and rose from the dead. But when you mention the devil, the same people look at you like you are from another planet.

Before he was a Christian my husband would have looked at you the same way. But now he knows and he has seen evil up close and personal. It is one area where Dave and the last two pastors we’ve had in our lives really are able to connect.

Dave once spoke of this at our church when he introduced a session on Spiritual Warfare. He told the congregation that if you truly believe in Jesus Christ and the bible, you must also believe in Satan. For if you truly believe all that is written in the bible, especially the New Testament and if you really believe that everything that it says is real, that it did happen, and Jesus saved us from sin, then how (as Dave said) can you ignore it when the bible speaks about the devil and his demons who mean to do harm to us?

I think as Christians it is easier to believe there is help and salvation for us but hard for us to believe there is evil out there wanting to harm us. Dave and I have been under attack from Day one when we made a serious commitment to go forward with our adoption. When fellow Christians who adopted before us warned us that bad things would happen once we made a commitment, we were thought they just had some bad luck. Boy were we wrong! It’s been crazy at times with attack from everywhere in our lives.

Each time we relax and let our guard down the devil comes strutting back with a new way to attack us. We just got slammed again. A phone call with a voice and name from the past and everything that was going great is now changed. Wow…evil from the past brings in sadness for the future.

I’m not talking about a broken nail or spilled milk. Bad things happen but they are not evil. I’m talking about full attacks. I won’t bore you with details, but we have been attacked in one way or another from the start of this adoption. Some have been really bad and some just bad.

Our faith in God has helped us overcome it all and we are more committed than ever to bringing our little girl home. We pray each night for God’s help in our lives and to help us protect our family from harm. In these times we will see Him in ways we never have before and even feel a new piece of His heart.

There is a hope within the struggle. There is a joy within the pain. There is a love within the fear. There is a peace that surpasses all understanding of our circumstances. JESUS. It is Him. When we walk through the fire, He is with us. Our God loves to give a way of escape for His people during the difficult times. He also loves to show Himself to us in those times. Sometimes, He will provide a way out, and other times, He will use those circumstances to make us more like Him.

“Put on all the armor that God gives, so you can defend yourself against the devil's tricks. We are not fighting against humans. We are fighting against forces and authorities and against rulers of darkness and powers in the spiritual world. So put on all the armor that God gives. Then when that evil day comes, you will be able to defend yourself.” Ephesians 6 11-13

Please wear your armor. It helps in ways you cannot imagine. We’ll still get hit and we still hurt, but at least it won’t hurt so much…

The wrestle…the struggle…don’t run away from it. Take it…embrace it. Press deeply into God during it, persevering within it, allow it to prove your character. Remain faithful to God and rising up within it as a testimony to all those around you. There is One who is your refuge in time of trouble, and there is One alone Who remains faithful to you in all things. May His truth be your testimony.

Odin turns 7
My first little guy had his 7th birthday on June 13th.  My how time has gone so fast.  I just love to look at him from the side. You can still see his plump little cheeks and the same face he had as a baby.
Choice of breakfast was fruit loops.  Lunch was mac and cheese and dinner was cheeseburgers on the grill.
Loves
legos, art, loving everyone, helping out too much(it's a joke in the family, because he will do everyone's chores for them-just because), any kind of small figurine he can bring to life, writing things out in a journal, wants to please everyone, kickball and camping.
He opened a few cards that had money in and immediately gave us some of the money to put in our adoption fund.  You have such a compassionate heart and just love people and you always want to give everything away.  I love everything about how God has made you. I love how you serve the Lord.   You are a very special guy and we love you so much!
Always loving on someoneLost first toothChristmas giftWhoever made up these glassesCan't beat that face expression
Dinner of choice-cheeseburgersOur b-day noodle fight.
You can't even tell there is 5 boxes of cooked noodles in our grass.  You should try it sometime.  It is so much fun to throw food.
Fun, laughs, messes, happiness and pure joy of being a mother!  I wouldn't trade it for anything.  Thank you.  God is so good!
